Hello all! I've been working on Citizen Science in Wikipedia and other properties and thinking about what this might look like for a long time and mostly been operating in stealth on by not yet tapping the community yet to move the idea forward. Thanks for making making this move! Now that I saw this come across the email list I might as well lay out what I've been thinking so we can all discuss if this is within scope of what this "Roadmap" aims to do.
I think there is enough to create a project if not a task force which would have more visibility if there are enough of us interested in this subject to curate the project scope and this talk page can kickstart that. While the "project mission here outlines low hanging fruit I have a much larger idea to propose.
From a structural standpoint I think we would fit as a project or task force under the 1.1 Science section of WikiProject Science how this is more a meta level projects.
Proposal of a WikiProject - Open Science and Citizen Science and we could shorten to WikiProject OSCS or something.

I for starting a WikiProject in the Science, Technology, and Engineering directory if we have enough interest to sustain work. Details for adding either.

Non-core data work in Wikipedia and Broader Wikimedia:
- Locations - For instance I'm working on WikiProject Lakes to gain better coverage in Wikipedia and Wikidata for a research study around Citizens Science Information and Targeting.
- Wikidata entity resolution of database IDs, Broadly overlaps with WikiData for Research.
- WikiSpecies - Taxonomy
- Overlap with GLAM Wiki
My way of thinking about laying out a roadmap here is thinking what is Core to Topics within Citizen Science then What Information are Complements to DOING Citizen Science thinking more about the needs of projects, platforms, and individuals. What is used on more than one project and how can we collaboratively develop the content and/or point to complementary work and organizations that we might invite to join in this effort. This would be to develop a strategy like has been applied to the Women in Red for which Women in Citizen Science could be a proposed task force in the Women in Red project. I think we could outline possible task forces to tackle various projects if this was a broader open science and citizen science coordinating project. example of a task force.
Provide tiered system of prioritization based on core topic to related. This may also point to existing projects with related scope to specific non-core topics and track their progress on certain topics that overlap to Citizen Science.
I'd be happy to take the time to write up a larger more detailed outline of what I have been thinking related to citizen science in a proposal for a task force or WikiProject page.
