Marley Joseph Tavaziva (born 17 December 2004) is an English professional footballer who plays for Premier League club Brentford as a goalkeeper.
Tavaziva is a product of the Brentford Elite Development Education Football Programme.
Club career
editYouth years
editA goalkeeper, Tavaziva progressed through the Brentford Elite Development Education Football Programme to make six National Youth League South Premier Division appearances for the Brentford CST team during the 2021–22 season.[3][4] He signed a two-year scholarship with the club's B team on 31 August 2022 and played concurrently for the club's U18 team during the 2022–23 and 2023–24 seasons.[3][5][6][7] At the end of the 2023-24 season, the club exercised its option to extend Tavaziva's scholarship by a further year.[8] In July 2024, he signed a one-year professional contract.[9]
International career
editIn November 2023, Tavaziva was named in the provisional Zimbabwe squad for its opening 2026 World Cup qualifiers,[10] but he was not named in the final selection due to injury.[11] Tavaziva won his second call-up for a friendly tournament in Malawi in March 2024 and was an unused substitute in both matches.[12][13] Tavaziva was named Zimbabwe's 2024 COSAFA Cup squad and was an unused substitute in each of the team's three matches prior to its group stage exit.[13][14][15]
Personal life
editTavaziva is of Zimbabwean descent.[16] He attended Halliford School.[17]
