Jaden Thompson-Brissett (born 4 May 2001), known as Jaden Brissett, is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward for National League South club Hampton & Richmond Borough.

Brissett is a product of the Norwich City and Charlton Athletic academies and began his professional career with Brentford. Following his release in 2020, he dropped into non-League football.

Career

edit

Youth years

edit

Brissett began his career as a forward in the academies at Charlton Athletic and Norwich City and progressed to sign a scholarship deal with the latter club.[3] As his youth carer progressed, he moved into midfield and left wing roles.[4] After a spell away on loan at Essex Senior League club Woodford Town during the first half of the 2018–19 season,[5][6] Brissett departed Carrow Road in January 2019.[3]

Brentford

edit

On 26 January 2019, Brissett joined the B team at Championship club Brentford on a free transfer.[3] He signed an 18-month contract, with the option of a further year.[3] Prior to the expiration of his contract in July 2020, he scored 17 goals in 39 appearances and was a part of the team which won the 2018–19 Middlesex Senior Cup.[7][8][9] Brissett also played for National League club Maidenhead United on a one-month loan in late 2019 and made three appearances during his spell.[10][11]

Non-League football

edit

On 10 October 2020, Brissett signed a short-term contract with National League club Dagenham & Redbridge on a free transfer.[12] He made just two appearances before his release on 9 January 2021.[13] Following a break from football and then an appearance on trial with Hobro IK's reserve team in August 2021,[14] Brissett returned to non-League football early in the 2021-22 season and made concurrent appearances for Woodford Town and Southern League Premier Division South club Chesham United.[15][16] He played the majority of the season for the latter club and five goals in 19 league appearances saw him win the club's Young Player of the Year award.[17][18]

Brissett was retained by Chesham United for the 2022–23 season.[19] After appearing sparingly,[17] he departed to join divisional rivals Hayes & Yeading United in late September 2022.[20] After again failing to hold down a regular place in the team,[21] Thompson-Brissett began appearing for Isthmian League South Central Division club Southall in mid November 2022.[17][22] He finished the 2022–23 season with 10 goals in 22 appearances and scored prolifically in 2023–24,[22] with 34 goals in 45 appearances.[23] He departed the club after the season and finished his spell with 44 goals in 67 appearances.[22][23][24]

In July 2024, Brissett signed an undisclosed-length contract with National League South club Hampton & Richmond Borough.[24]

Personal life

edit

Thompson-Brissett is the son of footballer and manager Jason Brissett.[5] He attended Wanstead High School.[5]
