Diversity Training edit

Learning and development strategy plays a pivotal role in contributing to diversity and inclusion. In today's world diversity is a critically important topic and one that if not trained for can present harmful to business. We can look to Starbucks as an example. Due to racial bias that lead to protests this company giant has deemed it necessary to close down 8,000 stores for racial bias training. This is done to prevent further harm to the business. [1] If business aren't careful and don't provide Diversity Training not only could the business find themselves in hot water with the pubic but with government officials through breaking diversity established laws. In order to make business successful there are two types of diversity training that every company should review.

The two types of diversity training[2] are:

  • Awareness Based Training
  • Skill-Based Training

Awareness Based Training: Deals with making individuals aware of prejudices and cultural assumptions of others.

Skill-Based Training: Deals with teaching individuals skill in how to handle prejudices and cultural assumptions.
