Introduction
editYesterday, on May 6, 2010, I discovered the logo for Wikipedia had errors in it. The reason why the logo wasn't fixed was because the designer had lost the original file. Times Magazine as well as the logo designer described it as a metaphor to the encyclopedia itself, about how there can be mistakes, and how the encyclopedia is made by the people.[1] I don't. I cringed every single time I looked at it. How would you feel if if a Japanese encyclopedia represented English in its logo with an 'E' that looked like a bracket because they left out the middle line? It's how the Japanese visitors feel every time they see our logo. One of the errors is in Japanese: A line is missing from ワィ; it should be ウィ.
So I sought out to fix it, less than ten minutes later.
What I'm doing
editI'm going to use the ancient and buggy Mac version of Adobe PhotoShop CS4 to fix all of the errors. The image I used was this image.
EDIT: I turned it into this one! File:Wikipedia-logo-fixed.png
EDIT: Read this: =( This was all a waste of time.
- Perhaps it wasn't for nothing. I am going to revive this in the Village Pump (technical). Perhaps it can be used. Awesomeness talk 02:56, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
How you can help
editTell me about any other mistakes I need to fix on the talk page! Currently I am only aware of the missing line in the Japanese piece (ワィ should be ウィ) and the transposed characters in the Hindi piece (व ि should be वि. I put a space in between the first symbols because if I let them touch, Wikipedia automatically corrects it to the second, correct form.).
My progress
editThursday, May 6, 2010
editAlready late in the day when I discovered it, only got to make a prototype fix of the Japanese piece.

editTweaked the Japanese piece, it is finished. Fixed the top curly thing in the Hindi piece, but haven't fixed the bottom yet. It will be much harder to do the bottom since I am swapping two places instead of moving one. I will be away from my house, and thus PhotoShop, until Saturday afternoon due to commitments. (I'll still have internet.) Sorry... I'll be back to work soon.

editFinished the Hindi piece. It took a long time, since for some reason the healing brush makes a white fringe around the letters I move; this took a while to fix. I proposed this in the Village Pump. This is all the errors I know of so far. Guys, help me out! EDIT: No... They're going to fix it themselves in a new logo... Go to the link at the top; read it.
This was such a waste of time.

editI am submitting this in the Village Pump again. See above. I won't let this go just yet.
