Ashmatuddin Mulla is sound recordist and a teacher in sound engineering. He is from Saptapur, Dharwad. Presently lives in Pune.

Education and Career

He did his Diploma in Sound Recording & Sound Engineering from Film and Television Institute of India. He did Bachelor of Arts from the Karnatak University. He also did Bachelor of Science from Karnatak University but upto part II only. He did PC awareness course from National Informatics Centre, Pune. He also appeared for the Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management at IGNOU.

He worked as a professor till retirement at Film and Television Institute of India(1981-2008). He worked as Sound Recordist in Doordarshan Kendra, Mumbai (on contract) and Srinagar.(1979-1981).

Professional Experience

• Teaching

He is presently designing, ‘Audiography courses’ for different media institutes. He is also presently teaching at Institute of New Media Development and Research for their ‘Audio Engineering’ a certificate course, affiliated to University of Pune. He is also working as a visiting faculty at Symbiosis Institute of Mass Communication (SIMC), Pune and Mass Communication Dept, University of Pune and ‘Vikshi Institute of Media Studies’, Pune and International School of Business and Media, Pune. He worked as trainer and teacher in different programme in Film and Television Institute of India. He associated in teaching for technical trainees about SOUND during basic course for Doordarshan staff, associated in specialized courses “Audio Operations” , “Specialisation in sound recording” and “Music balancing” for technical personnel of DD, he associated in imparting TV SOUND input to 1st year students of Diploma course students, worked as instructor for ENG exercises, guided trainee producers to develop ideas and designing sound for their productions.

• Managerial

He managed and its content development, marketing and operations of Radio FTII, a community radio station is established at Film and Television Institute of India. He worked as Marketing and Advertising Manager for “Lensight”, a technical quarterly journal published by Film and Television Institute of India. He was also a Sports Adviser at Film and Television Institute of India.

• Engineering

He did setting up of Radio FTII, was associated in reinstallation of Magna-Tech-Equipments in studio. He is experienced in installation of audio equipments for video post production set-ups, recording studio installations.
