Martin Weiss

Martin Weiss (born July 7, 1967)[1] is a German manager and chief executive officer (CEO) of Hubert Burda Media since January 2022.

Studies and career edit

After graduating from high school (Abitur), Weiss studied economic history at the London School of Economics. He then earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School at Harvard University.[2] From 1990 to 1992, he was supported by the McCloy Program[3] of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes.[4]

From 1992 to 1996 he worked for McKinsey & Company.[2] He was a founding member of Solon Management Consulting.[5] He was first hired as an external consultant by Hubert Burda Media in 1998.[6] In early 2002, Martin Weiss was appointed to the Supervisory Board of Tomorrow Focus AG, a company of Hubert Burda Media.[2][7] He headed the London office of Solon from 2008 to 2013.[8] He then served as a board member for strategy, business development and M&A at Millicom.[9][10][11]

In 2015, Weiss joined Hubert Burda Media to launch its venture capital arm BurdaPrincipal Investments. He also took charge of the company’s M&A unit.[8] In August 2017, he joined the company’s Management Board with responsibility for the international print and digital business.[12] In 2020, he became chairman of the supervisory board of the career network operator New Work SE (formerly XING).[13] On January 1, 2022, Weiss was appointed CEO of Hubert Burda Media.[14]

In 1998, he was awarded the title Elite der Zukunft, by the business magazine Wirtschaftswoche.[15]

Personal life edit

Marin Weiss lives in Egling, Upper Bavaria.[16] He is married and has three children.[12]
