Article Evaluation for Humanities 4472 (MGA)

edit

Notes of Ethnography wikipedia page.

  • The lead section of this page is thorough and includes multiple citations
  • There are several sections and subsections included in the contents page
  • The history and meaning section does include a banner disclosing the need for additional citations
  • Origin of the word 'ethnography' listed in both lead sections and history and meaning sections[1]
  • It might be possible to remove the first paragraph of the "history and meaning" section, this paragraph sounds very similar to the lead section. The history and meaning section should be reserved for historical information
  • The 'origins' section could replace much of the information in the 'history and meaning' section, or at least be placed before the 'history and meaning' section to provide a more direct timeline from the introduction of Ethnography to its use by researchers in years prior to 2018.
  • More citations could be added to the last paragraph in the 'origins' section to support information about Herodotus.
  • Expansion of the content could result in more information provided for "confessional ethnography; life history; feminist ethnography"[1] which are noted in the first paragraph of the 'forms of ethnography' but not discussed further in this section.
  • Note the banner disclaimer for the lack of citation in the 'feature of ethnographic research' and 'ethnography as a method' sections
  • For the current lack of citations, there are several references and a lengthy 'further reading' section to support the idea that much can be revised, cited, and added on this wikipedia page.
  • Links provided are entered correctly to work as hyperlinks
  • This page has a lengthy talk page with input for corrections and criticism for this article.
  • There is a disclaimer at the beginning of the talk page to acknowledge this article as part of an educational assignment from 2011

Maidstone (Film) Article Review

edit

My chosen article is the Maidstone (Film) Wikipedia page that discusses the film by Norman Mailer. The chapter summaries section is fairly developed so I will focus on adding to the Reception section and its subsections. The synopsis could be expanded a little bit and possibly have citations added? Additionally, information for the cast could be added after some research.

The chapter summaries section has less than 5 citations so adding citations to some of these occurrences might help for future Mailer students to locate information more quickly.
