Veroljub Atanasijevic was a Serbian architect and a prominent author in the field of health architecture.

Biography

Veroljub M. Atanasijević was born on January 8, 1940 in Kragujevac, to a father, Mladen, a professor, philologist and a prolific Latin translator, and mother Desanka. He finished elementary school and high school in Kragujevac. He graduated in 1962 from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Belgrade in the Atelier of Professor Stanko Kliska. He passed the professional exam in 1965, and acquired all the authorizations for the construction and design of all types of buildings.

He received his master's degree from the Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade in 1981 with the thesis "Planning the development of the outpatient service of the City of Kragujevac until 2000." He received his PhD, under the mentorship of Academician Architect Ivan Antić, at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade in 1986 with the dissertation "Intensive care of patients as part of general progressive care in modern hospitals from the aspect of design". After graduating, in 1962, he got a job at the Institute for Urbanism in Kragujevac, where he worked on spatial plans, detailed urban projects, and the revision of the GUP of the City of Kragujevac. From 1964, the design period of his life began, which lasted until 2001. He was employed in the Design Company "Kragujevac" and Zastava Inženjering. In his prolific career, he went through a development path from Designer to General Manager. In his career, he was lucky that most of the designed facilities were constructed, especially capital ones. He was awarded the Diploma of the City of Kragujevac for his contribution to the construction of the City in 1971.
