Personal life

edit

Claver was born in Mumbai in a Catholic family and was influenced very early on with his father's music. His dad was a flute player and a major influence for him to pick up his guitar at the early age of 10. He formed a band called Rust Angels with his brothers and close friends and started making music at an age of 20 and played cover versions of Iron Maiden, Scorpions, Metallica, Megadeth, Wasp, Anthrax and many more. He eventually started working as a guitarist at the show Movers & Shakers.

Claver's distinct style of guitaring with fantastic speed on the fretboard was noticed and applauded, soon to be recognized as one of the best guitarists in Mumbai. Joe Satriani's style of music has been the most significant influences in his playing, and he paid a solo tribute to his idol through a performance in Mumbai featuring the top Joe Satriani songs in 1998.

Career

edit

Claver and his band performed at rock shows across colleges and also entered the finals of Live Wire (IIT, Mood Indigo) the next year. The band gained in popularity and attained prominence among the young college-going crowd. He has recently released his albums Crooked Ways and Crooked Ways 2 on Spotify and Apple Music.[4] [5]

Claver started a recording label called Hangar Records, and brought together the top guitarists of the country in 2001 for an instrumental album, 'The Unborn Recital (FOK II)' and a video featuring all the guitarists were also produced and released. The participating guitarists in the album were Li'l Finger, Ravi Iyer, Sarosh Izedyar, Paresh Kamat, Dhruv Ghanekar, Warren Mendonca, Suri Sequiera, Chandresh Kudwa, Edwin Fernandes, Sushil, and Randolph Correia.

The very same year Hangar Records recorded and released another album, a non-instrumental this time, called 'Screwed' which other than his own band Rust Angels featured other rock bands Zero, Sceptre, Thor, Fate, Psychomotor, Kinky Ski Munky, AFS, Freedom, and Morticide. The reason why Hangar Records came into being in Claver's words was to keep rock music alive. He has also given music for the movie 'Sacred Evil' produced by Percept.
