Interests and Ambitions

Crassic reverts vandalism and corrects spelling, bad links, and many other subtle, yet important, wiki-gnome type activites. He also wants to become an administrator, and the knowledge this would require. In addition, he is very interested in knowing the ins-and-outs of Wikipedia and becoming a trusted, knowledgeable contributor.

Curriculum

Policy and background In this phase of the curriculum, I will teach Crassic the founding policies of Wikipedia, such as the five pillars, and go into depth about What Wikipedia Is and What It Is Not.

Tools of the trade Based on his interests, I will show Crassic many tools that will make his work here easier and much more efficient, such as tools for vandalism reversion and the like.

Vandalism Reversion This phase is just a quick brush-up on when to revert a user, when to warn them, and what is simply a good-faith edit--and not vandalism.

The Wikipedia Namespace Here, I will try to get Crassic involved in the background side of the project, by participating in XfDs, dispute resolution, RfAs, and other similar tasks.

Admin stuff Though I am not an administrator, I will do my best to explain the qualifications that are required of them, including the confusing difference between a block and a ban, page protection, deletion, etc, etc.

Test Yes, there will be a test on the things you'll learn, Crassic, but don't worry; it'll be easy.

Interests and ambitions

Mgeheren wants to create new pages as much as he can, and primarily edit in the mainspace. He also wants to patrol new pages and wants to learn as mush as he can about Wikipedia.

Curriculum

Policy and background In this phase of the curriculum, I will teach Mgeheren the founding policies of Wikipedia, such as the five pillars, and go into depth about What Wikipedia Is and What It Is Not.

WikiMarkup This phase is just a quick brushup on the wiki language by running through the Manual of Style.

What makes an article Here, I will go into detail about the different parts of an article, such as the lead section, etc. to assist Mgeheren in creating articles.

Deletion In this phase I will show Mgeheren the different ways an article can be deleted, to prepare him for new page patrolling.

"Old School" New page Patrol In this phase I will show Mgeheren the oldest and perhaps the most reliable way to patrol new pages.

Tools of the trade Here, Mgeheren will learn about NPWatcher, a new page patrol program, Twinkle, to make simple tasks easier without an external browser, and wikEd, to assist him with mainspace editing.

Deletion listing In this very brief part of the curriculum, Mgeheren will learn how and when to list a page for deletion...without NPWatcher or Twinkle, as it is simply an important piece or knowledge that shouldn't be missed.

The Wikipedia Namespace Here, I will try to get Mgeheren involved in the background side of the project, by participating in XfDs, dispute resolution, RfAs, and other similar tasks.

Test Yes, Mgeheren, there will be a test. But have no fears; it's not that bad.
