The W.E.C. Institute, Inc. (WEC) is an independent physics and technology research institute dedicated to bringing people and information together to advance knowledge though "Broad Spectrum Research and Development".[1] Not being associated with politics, religion or major universities makes the Institute unique as one of only a handful of totally independent science based research institutes in the U.S..
History of the Institute
editLocated near Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA the Institute was founded by a small group of researchers, scientists, lay people, and professionals. Originally named the Spectrum Institute, the name was changed due to infringement issues. Eventually Wisdom Enhanced Change (W.E.C.) was adopted.
Kitchen Table Discussions
editFrom the mid 1970's through the turn of the century many discussions were held around the kitchen table of one of the founding Institute members, Kimber Spahr. It was this large round wooden table mixed with a variety of guests and an ample supply of food and beverage provided by matriarch Ferol Williams that eventually led to the founding of the W.E.C. Institute. The discussions and at times heated debates held at this table led to breakthroughs in science and technology. The central concepts of gathering people from different walks of life together to solve problems led to the Institute's "Broard Spectrum Research and Development" philosophy. And the Institute's guiding principle of change, whether it be in manufactured goods or theories, not be done for change's sake but be done wisely and have an overall net benefit to mankind and the environment.

- Sep. 11, 2008 W.E.C. granted non-profit charity license by the State of Michigan, USA[4]
