Backstory

edit

I recently moved into an old house that my great-grandmother passed down to me upon her death. I'm fully moved in now and have finally gotten around to sharing a discovery I made back in April. On the 27th I found a box in the attic that was labeled on every side, including the bottom with 'Washi'. I opened the box thinking it might be junk I can sell or put in the storage. What I found instead was a 13-book series about this cult my grandmother might have been part of.

The first book, and the oldest I found in the box is actually the second one that was written. Writing started on December 13th of 1863, and was written to completion in the next few years. I've only skimmed it but I know that this is a very detailed book, so I assume the others will be. There is no author appointed, no editor, no historian. The books are simply brown leather beasts as thick as my neck for each one with little variation in actual thickness.

The first one is written in mostly English, that I can tell from the handwriting I've skimmed. I assume it was an American that wrote it. According to the author, he is from a family called Anderson. I guess this makes sense because my great-grandmother's maiden name was Anderson, so it's likely that the author is related. I've yet to fully confirm this, though. I doubt I'll be able to. For the next long while whenever I get time I will read the books and see what else I can add.

I'm writing this page as a home base for any additional information and as a way to hopefully find someone who knows or found something I wasn't able to while I scoured the internet as far back and as deep as I could. I don't have any family past my mother and father, neither of them have surviving siblings or family that live or lived in that area so I'm really limited to what I have on me at this moment. This is all for the first update on the 1st of November, 2023.

Creation legend

The first notebook which I found began with pages on two gods; [no Kami] (White god) and Kuro no kami (Black god).
