I am an applied mathematician who currently works as a researcher for a national defense laboratory in the United States. After several years of using Wikipedia extensively in my personal and professional life, I finally decided to start contributing.

Major Areas of Interest edit

  • Music: I love classic rock, alternative, indie rock, and metal, ranging from the big acts all the way down to the local talent. I probably use Wikipedia more for reading about music and properly tagging my MP3's than for anything else.
  • Video games: I've spent many hours enjoying console games on the NES, SNES, PlayStation, PS2, Wii, and now the Xbox 360. I'd love to contribute to these kinds of pages, but it seems like they have plenty of help already.
  • Mathematics: I enjoy working in a variety of areas in linear algebra and statistics, in particular parameter estimation, random matrices and graph theory. These are the sorts of articles to which I try to contribute most.
  • Other interests: news and current events, politics, hiking, rock climbing.

In case you're curious, Apocralyptic is a reference to the "Apocralypse" (apocryphal apocalypse) from the Discworld novels by Terry Pratchett. He is one of my favorite authors; you should check out his books if you haven't already.
