Antonio Magrì Antonio Magrì was born in Naples in 1945; he lives and works in Latisana (UD) with a studio in via Dietro Chiesa 62. He attended some courses held at the Institute of Fine Arts in Naples. Present in the art world with around ten solo exhibitions in various Italian cities and with as many prestigious group exhibitions, he has obtained flattering critical and public acclaim everywhere. Among the most demanding solo exhibitions are those in Naples in 1981 and the one in Gorizia at the Galleria Pitteri in 1984. In 1985 he participated, upon invitation, in the Bari Expoarte, then in the Arte Fiera of Bologna. In the spring of the same year he was present with large-scale solo exhibitions at the Galleria aS. Lorenzo> of Mestre (VE) and at the Comunale d'Arte Moderna of Trieste have written about Antonio Magrì, among others, highlighting his strong artistic personality, the painter Del Sal of Cesarolo (VE), the critics Enrico Menna of Naples , E.R. Maccora of the Weissenbruch in Turin ...His painting is rich in content: a painting that does not allow half measures, nor second thoughts. To an observersuperficial, it reveals what it really is: a work of vast commitment, capable of bringing forward a socio-cultural discussion and raising public awareness of the problems and imbalances still so present in our society. Its themes are extremely varied and possess the liveliness and freshness of a splendid fairy tale, made for those with clear eyes and a clean soul. His .New figuration>, his expressionism, certainly does not lack effectiveness: painting which, for over a decade, Magrì has expressed with so much conviction and just as much determination. If we want, a certain evolution has taken place in his commitment, and not only on the surface. Situated in the times and cultural status of the new generations But the roots are always the same. Migneco and Rosai are, in part, present to him in such strong, sculptural figures, burned by the sun, macerated by suffering and salt: people who draw their existence from the sea and the land.
