Leonard Kim Liao , commonly known as Leon Youngboy as well as Leonardo, Is the first Asian American artist to produce and perform Latin Freestyle. According to an article by the Chinese World Journal dated November 29, 2005 Page E3, Although he is Asian American, he uses his latin influences and Asian culture to produce his music. His first single "Youngboys" which 1st featured Asian gang violence in his music video along with a club single remix by Jason Hernandez and Eddie Davis ( from the famed Hanson and Davis team known for their latin freestyle hit "Hungry for Your Love") called "The SYB War mix" helped propel the single in the early 90's before the East Coast West Coast gangster phenomenon. The song and video recently has resurfaced and was featured in the 30th Asian American International Film Festival. Leon Youngboys's video "Youngboy" hit #1 on the pop chart on March 26 and again on April 2nd with "War Chant" hitting #1 on the rap chart of a contest from Music Nation, which was sponsored by Epic Records,Z100 radio station and Power 105 radio station.
