Annelies Middel studied painting, drawing and photography at Academie Minerva in Groningen, 1991-1997. She worked as a teatcher at the same Academy until 2009. Currently she works as teacher and coördinator at Klassieke Academie voor Schilderkunst and NoorderAteliers.
