Salman Abdullah Murad (born December 1980) is a Pakistani politician who currently serves as the Deputy Mayor of Karachi, Pakistan. He is a member of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and has a long history of public service.

Early life and education

Murad was born in Karachi in December 1980. He attended the Civil Aviation Airport School and passed his intermediate examination from the Government Science College Malir. He then went on to study at Karachi University.

Political career

Murad's father, Abdullah Murad, was a prominent leader of the PPP. Before his father's death, Murad was mostly involved in doing business. However, after his father's passing, he became more active in politics.

In 2008, Murad was appointed as special assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh. In this role, he gained valuable experience in the workings of government and developed a deep understanding of the challenges faced by his city.

In 2016, Murad was elected as the chairman of the District Council Karachi. During his four-year tenure in this position, he oversaw a number of important initiatives, including the construction of over 200 new schools and the development of Karachi's first-ever comprehensive master plan.

Murad is also the founder of the Shaheed Abdullah Murad Foundation, an organization that provides educational opportunities and support to underprivileged communities.

Deputy Mayor of Karachi

In 2021, Murad was nominated by the PPP for the seat of the Deputy Mayor of Karachi. He was subsequently elected to this position by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC).

As Deputy Mayor, Murad is responsible for overseeing a wide range of issues, including urban planning, infrastructure development, and sanitation.
