Mirza Musa Ashtiani (died May 3, 1881) was Vazir Lashkar (Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics) during the reign of Nasser al-Din Shah.

According to family tradition, Mirza Musa entered the Qajar bureaucracy at a young age. He was in Qazvin in 1850 and showed his worth in suppressing the revolt that led to the closure of the markets, so he was noticed by Amir Kabir and he appointed him treasurer of all Khorasan.[1]

In 1851, Amir Kabir was removed from the post of Prime Minister and Mirza Aga Khan Nouri came to power. Mirza Agha Khan dismissed Mirza Musa Ashtiani until he himself was dismissed and Mirza Musa returned to his post.[2] With the help of one of his relatives, Mirza Yusuf Ashtiani, he became the deputy of Khorasan.[3]

In 1871, Nasser al-Din Shah handed over the leadership of the country's military affairs to Mirza Hosein Khan Moshir od-Dowleh. Mirza Hosein Khan, based on his acquaintance with Mirza Musa, also asked Nasser al-Din Shah to appoint Mirza Musa as Minister of Defense and Finance. The first thing that Mirza Musa did in this position was to investigate the account of Qorkhaneh and to prepare an accurate list of the stock of weapons that were in the possession of the forces in Tehran or elsewhere and had not been found since the time of Amir Kabir.[4] [[Category:Mostowfian Ashtiani family]]
