Discussion: What's a content gap? edit
Content gaps can be known as places where discussions are taken place yet there is a disconnect between some of the points that are being made. This may occur sometimes due to simple errors and simply forgetting points to larger errors where either judgment or lapse in knowledge exists. Sometimes getting other perspectives or someone to hear or read a discussion can aid in remedying these gaps. While articles do not always need to be limited to those within the profession to write about the profession, there can be times where content gaps arise due to not being as familiar with the field as a professional. In order to create such an article, it is best to get many perspectives and reliable sources to include in the article being written. Am6320 (talk) 21:12, 19 February 2018 (UTC)

Discussion: Thinking about sources and plagiarism edit
- Blog posts and press releases may not be considered a reliable source because there does not need to be a formal editing and source checking that occurs before the information becomes public, and they can simply be discussing personal views as opposed to factual and objective views of a topic.
- You may not want to always use a companies page as the primary source for information related to their company because there are intrinsic biases that are present and the information may not be as objective as it could be.
- The difference between plagiarism and copyright violation is that one in the case of plagiarism you are taking complete credit or ownership of the work that is not yours versus in the latter you do not give credit to the work, but there is no self-accreditation that occurs.
- Public domain means that a given work can be used by the public and is no longer or has ever been copyrighted. However, there can still be plagiarism for these works.
- Fair use means that under certain circumstances things that are under copyright may be used without getting formal permission from the entity that has ownership.
- Good methods to not plagiarize or close paraphrase are to read what you are discussing and truly understand it and then form your own description of what it is you read.
