Summary

B. Ames (she/they), self-described as "The Underground Vogue-Pop Being", is a producer, vocalist, and songwriter born in Louisiana. They are a club kid, drag queen, and musical performer. She has roots in pop, hip-hop, crunk, and R&B, as well as house, as she was introduced to the Underground Ballroom Scene in 2007. She has produced both original songs and remixes for contestants on "RuPaul's Drag Race", collaborated with Tony Quattro, Icon Sinia Alaia, and Paris DJ and Producer Lazy Flow, and had her work featured on HBO Max's Legendary. They work in their own label, B. Ames Entertainment, LLC.

Early Life

B. Ames was born on December first of 1990 and grew up in Louisiana and was raised in a military family. They started DJing in church during youth programming. They became a part of their first ballroom house in 2007, at around 16 or 17 years old, and got into the underground mainstream later on in life.

Artistry and Musical Career

B. Ames began practicing with making instrumentals and beats, beginning with hip hop beats. After being exposed to Ciara’s work, she moved towards making pop beats and was then influenced by krunk, R&B, and house. They were later influenced by Ballroom after entering the community and meeting their first ballroom father. Some of their most notable musical achievements have been working with Ballroom Icon Sinia Alaia multiple times as well as releasing their newest album Ms.Bei in 2023, which they have been working on since 2018.

Influences

Some of her most notable influences include Little Dragon, Ciara, Beyonce, Kierra Sheard, Sade, Janet Jackson, and various Fem Queens of the Ballroom scene (including Sinia, Asia West, Tutu West, Allison, Prodigy, Alloura, and Kristina Tsunami).

Videos and Stage

While living in New Orleans, they would perform at underground bars and clubs. They also collaborated with and were featured in the music video for “The Reason” with Sinia Alaia.

Achievements

B. Ames has had her music on the American Ballroom reality show Legendary and has worked with many drag queens of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
