Alex Howroyd, Born 29/11/1985 in Hobart, is a multi instrumentalist who specialises in saxophone, trumpet and flute. During high school he studied under Douglas Mackey, principal flute of Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra from the age of 13. Alex Studied saxophone at UTAS in 2007 under Alistair Dobson and moved to Melbourne in 2010 where he became part of the session and jazz scene. Alex has also studied under Ian Whitehurst, Paul Williamson, Greg Spence and Gerard Presencer (UK). In his career, Alex has worked with many Australian musicians including, Tones and I, Marcia Hines, Sampa the Great, Melbourne Ska Orchestra, Don Walker, Ross Wilson, Ian Moss, Roger McLachlan, Rai Thistlewayte, Ilan Kidron, Mark Fitzgibbon, Mat Jodrell, Greg Spence, Ivan Khatchoyan, Dave Newdick and Steve Sedergreen. Alex is a competent arranger and has been involved in various projects over the years.
