Tara Baswani is a multidisciplinary performing artist, songwriter and creator.

She draws deep into her experiences growing up in India, and nomadic travels, to create her vividly textured language.

Tara weaves her deeply personal stories into metaphorical poetry and world music progressions, over beds of cinematic arrangements. Fronted by her unique voice, with it’s raw, sensuous timbre… improvisations, that have the freedom of jazz, skim the structures of classical music, art rock and soul. Eclectic instrumental elements and soundscapes glimmer through her compositional trademark, vibrating in innovative trip hop frames, within her electro acoustic universe.

Tara broke professional ground as a leading voice across television,film, radio and advertising, with shows on National Geographic, Discovery, MTV to her credit. With her solo & collaborative works, she has performed across North America, Asia and Europe, on platforms ranging from The Royal Albert Hall, Place Des Arts, SouthBank Centre, Fuji Dome to University campuses and schools in India and is a recipient of several distinctions including the Herald Angel Award (Edinburgh).

As the first Indian musician to collaborate with the Cirque Du Soleil, her work as an artist / composer/ songwriter has been featured on global platforms like The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Night Show with Conan O’Brien, Fuji TV, CBC and through world tours.

Tara’s solo music project, Quest: Origins (2015) premiered to acclaim on platforms like Aux TV, CBC, NPR, KEXP, SiriusXM, CIUT FM, making a remarkable impact on international stages like TIFF (2015 ), Place 2 B, Paris (2015), Hatch (2016), World Social Forum (2016).

With the Quest Live Sessions, Tara creates immersive aural-visual performances, innovating constantly by inviting multidisciplinary collaborations with guest artists.

She was acknowledged at COP21, Paris (2015) for using her stage to spark conversations on gender and racial identity, equality and empowerment, and curating the “Daily Quest” art education workshops through her live shows.

As Ambassador for ” Cultural and Philosophical Expressions for Social Change” at the World Social Forum, (2016), she was honored to represent India and Canada in Montreal as a Speaker/ Performer, promoting women/children’s right to safety against violence, and education.

In 2013, Tara also co founded LembasWorks, a design firm committed to innovative artistic creation, enabling conscious concepts for social impact and environmental responsibility.

She also partners actively with global institutions to improve grassroots access to affordable education, and to create awareness for the issue of climate protection.
