Baghdadi Pigeons Arabic (الحمام البغدادي) is a homing pigeon breed was found in Iraq , the origin year is not surely known , but the breed is widely spread among Iraqi pigeoneers specially in the middle and the south regions of the country .Baghdadis come in many verities of colors and shapes , the main color shade is red-brownish which mainly called " red " ِArabic (humer حمر ) and there are the white ones mainly called Bedrang Arabic بدرنك the actual name is believed to be of Turkish origins just like the black ones which called Kumarly ِArabic كمرلي

baghdadi pigeons ( red ) with "half cup" crest on their head and long feathers covering their legs.
Baghdadi pigeons ( red ) no crest
baghdadi pigeon , black Kumarly كمرلي male to the right with full forehead white marking, female to the left with full forehead white marking plus the ring surrounds her head.

Few other color verities are to follow , yellow which have some other sub color shades , they also come in white but there sides are coated in red, black, and yellow. Baghdai pigeons are not long distance, nor high flyers, they fly in flocks tend to hover around the house, the longest time reported is to be 3 hours in cool temperature conditions . As far as body mutations , baghdadis could have "half cup crest" on their head, or they can be "plain headed" .They also can have long feathers growing out of their legs ,this would prevent them from flying properly so pigeon keepers tend to trim it so they can fly well, Or they can keep it then they will be just for show or "fancy pigeons". There's also the "white spot" located on different parts of their bodies , there's a name for almost every different white spot could be on the baghdadi for instance , white line coming down the forehead would be called "high spirit" Arabic A'gher أغر and so on. Lately , some breeders started to implement the "frill" feather mutation to their baghdadis but it's not widely accepted, for this mutation seriously hinders the birds from effective flying.
