Daniel Joseph Levy (born August 24, 1983) is a Canadian television personality, actor, writer, and producer born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. He has been in both film and television and is best known for his television career as a co-host of MTV Live.

Early Life

Levy was born in Toronto, Ontario to parents Deborah Divine and Canadian actor Eugene Levy. He is also the older brother of Sarah Levy.[1] Aside from spending a few of his early years in Los Angeles, California, Levy has spent the majority of his life living with his family in the Rosedale suburb of Toronto. After graduating from North Toronto Collegiate Institute, Levy went on to study Communications at York University and graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts.[2]

Career

Levy began his television career as one of the original seven co-hosts of MTV Canada's flagship show MTV Live. He later collaborated with other producers at MTV studios and co-wrote, co-hosted, and co-produced MTV's The After Show and its various incarnations including The Hills: The After Show and The City: The After Show with co-host Jessi Cruickshank.[3] In a joint effort with MTV, Levy also wrote, produced, and starred in his own Christmas special, Daniel Levy's Holi-Do's & Don'ts. Levy also co-hosted the MTV Awards Red Carpet, The X-Factor pre-show, and national coverage of the Vancouver Olympic Games for CTV.

Levy has acted in various television shows including the Canadian series Degrassi: The Next Generation and Off Line. He went on to made his film debut alongside actress Tina Fey in Admission. [4]

In 2013, Levy and his father formed Not A Real Company Productions (with principals Andrew Barnsley and Fred Levy) to produce the half-hour, single-camera comedy show Schitt's Creek for CBC Television. Levy is the co-creator, co-executive producer, and co-writer of Schitt's Creek and stars in the show alongside Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, and Chris Elliot.[5]

Levy currently lives downtown Toronto at Yonge-Dundas Square with his wife and child.
