John Mackay (15 December 1804 - 14 August 1880) was a Scottish painter.[1]

His father was John Mackay [Snr] (1761 - 1840).
His mother was Jane Dunlop (1785 - 25 July 1850) from Whitmuir Hall in Selkirk. John [Snr] and Jane married on 20 February 1892 in Edinburgh.
John Mackay was born on 15 December 1804 in Edinburgh.
He married Agnes Scott (c. 1808 - 7 April 1891) from Edinburgh. They married on 8 July 1825 in St. Cuthbert's parish, Edinburgh.

editHe died on 14 August 1880 in Edinburgh. He was buried in Warriston cemetery on 17 August 1880.[6]
