Josh Santana is Michael Alexander Alvarez Pamular in real life. He was born on June 18, in Metro Manila, Philippines by Spanish-Filipino parents Ramon Delgado Pamular (Judge) and Sonia Magno Alvarez Pamular. He has a sister whose name is Sheryl Lou Alvarez Pamular. He rose to popularity in 2003 as the male love interest of Carol Banawa in the Phenomenal hit TV series "Bituin," co-starring Nora Aunor and Desiree Del Valle. During 2003 to early 2004, Bituin had the highest ratings among all primetime TV programs on ABS-CBN which was undefeated even including the then primetime programs on the rival network, GMA. It was from the same soap opera where he got his name "Josh Santana."

In this story, Josh is a very popular Filipino actor-singer from whom Melody Sandoval (played by Carol Banawa) seeks help in launching her singing career. However, he despises her having come from a poor provincial family. Upon realizing the truth about his dwindling singing career, after his fans found out that he had a son, who was kept away from media exposure, died in an accident, he was left with only one option which is to accept the offer to have Melody as a guest in his concert. By then, Melody has already become a more popular personality. The world turns around, and this time it is Josh who needs help from Melody, who sings with a crystal clear and angelic voice. They both get a chance to work with each other and eventually fall in love.

Bituin soon ended following the rumors that its senior lead character "Nora Aunor" refused to comply with the agreement specified in her contract signed with ABS-CBN Star Cinema.

Josh focused on his singing and eventually he was given another shot when he recorded the theme song of another hit Prime time Soap Opera, "Basta't Kasama Kita" starring Judy Ann Santos and Robin Padilla. This was immediately followed by another project which gave him a mark in Philippine Showbusiness. He was again chosen to be the voice behind the theme song of the Phenomenal TV Series "Meteor Garden." This time, Josh Santana translated "Qing Fei Di Yi" to "Can't Help Fallin." It was this song that endeared millions of Filipinos into listening to translations of foreign songs to Tagalog. He is considered to be the trend-setter of music translation in the country.

Josh left show business after he released the theme song of the teen-oriented TV program "SC Qpids"Italic text which was "Dito sa Puso ko," were he featured the then new discovery "Nikki Gil. He decided to continue and finish his college degree at the Far Eastern University, Manila.Italic text He took AB English Language and was said to be very popular not only for his singing, but also for his intelligence and leadership. He won 2nd place in an "On-the-spot Essay Writing Contest" held in FEU and judged by very respected Professors from the University of the Philippines, including Gemino AbadBold text. He was also sent by FEU to represent his university in an International Student Congress held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2005. He went along with other FEU students. In 2006, he was elected as the President of the FEU-Central Student Council and was sent to more National Student Congresses. He graduated in 2007 and was named "Outstanding Senior Student" along with 12 others who were chosen out of at least 6,000 FEU graduates of 2007.

After his graduation, he was named "Dangal ng Kabataan" awardee (or Honor of the Youth) by the "Pampelikulang Samahan ng mga Dalub-guro" or PASADO.

After a long hiatus in the Music Industry, he finally decided to return in 2009. Many fans have awaited his return and they were surprised with what he had come up with. In many published reports, they quoted him saying "I want to share something new with my fans. Something that describes the real me. I don't want to pretend with my music any longer. I will now share something that I truly love listening to." In March of 2009, he released a new album by producers Zachary Cordero Barlahan and Dennis Garcia Arce (see: www.joshsantana.multiply.com for contact details) titled, "Josh Santana: Eres tu." The CD has 10 songs all with latin flavor. 2 pure Spanish songs: Historia de un Amor and Eres Tu; 2 mixed with other languages: I hate that I love you so (Spanglish) and Eres Mio (Spanish-Tagalog), 2 revivals: Dreaming of You by Selena (Mexico) and I Don't Wanna Lose You Now by Gloria Estefan (Cuba); 3 originals: Kahit Minsan Lang (Marlon Silva), Magpakailanman (Marlon Silva) and Estar Contigo (his own composition); and an alternative version of the all-time Spanish Favorite Eres Tu. Album Producer was Paulo Zarate.

Josh describes this album as "Fil-Hispano" which according to him is how we refer to anything Filipino that is fused with Spanish. In this case, we have Fil-Hispano music.
