General Abdullah Habibi تورن جنرال عبدالله حبیبی; son of Ghulam Habib, was born in 1952 in Sawkai district of Kunar province. After completing primary school, he enrolled at Military School in 1342 and graduated in 1969. In 1969, he enrolled at Artillery Faculty of Military University and graduated with Second Lieutenant (bachelor’s) degree in 1972. In 1976, he was sent abroad to pursue his higher education and after successful completion of his education, he came back to the country, with Master’s in Military Sciences, in 1980. In 1990, he was promoted to the rank of Major General by the presidential decree. In 2003, based upon the assessment and decision of the assigned commision, he was promoted to the Professor position.

Military Servies edit

During his career in the Afghan National Army, he has served in the following ranks:

  • In 1972, as an Artillery Officer in Corps 88;
  • In 1974, as a lecturer in Military University;
  • In 1980, in Division 17;
  • In 1980, as the Commander of Brigade 28, Division 17;
  • In 1981, he was sent abroad for one year to carry on his higher education;
  • In 1985, as Operations Officer of Border Protection Forces;
  • In 1987, as Deputy Intel Officer of Border Protection Forces, in the rank of Major General;
  • In 1988, as First Deputy Commander of Border Protection Forces, in the rank of Major General;
  • In 1988, as General Commander of Border Protection Forces, in the rank of Lieutenant General;
  • In 1996, as First Deputy of Education Department of the Afghan Ministry of Defense;
  • In 2004, after the formation of the Afghan Transitional Government and formation of national army, as Audit Head of Chief of the General Staff in first reformation of organization, in the rank of Major General;
  • In 2006, as Personnel Officer of Chief of the General Staff, in the rank of Major General;
  • In 2009, as the Military Assistant of the Afghan Minister of Defense, in the rank of Major General;
  • In 2011, as Commander of 201 Selab Corp, in the rank of Major General;
  • In 2013, again as the Personnel Officer of Chief of the General Staff, in the rank of Major General;
