Katrina Anne Foley (born July 5, 1967) is the founder of The Foley Group, PLC, a law firm providing a full variety of employment law services and consulting. With 20 years experience in employment and civil litigation and over 18 years experience in government affairs and campaigns, she started her own practice June of 2009. Prior to this she was the managing partner of Lents & Foley for 11 years.[9] Foley lives in Costa Mesa, California is currently serving her community on the Costa Mesa City Council -- she was Mayor from December 2016 to November of 2017 -- and recently declared her candidacy for Mayor 2018.[10]

Early life and education

Katrina Anne Foley was born into a working-class family living and operating their own Mobile Home Park in Delano, California -- A small community about 30 miles north of Bakersfield, California on July 5, 1967. She was barely two years old when her brother, Burnice (Bruce) Foley, III was born and her parents broke-up, eventually divorcing. Her single mother of two struggled to make ends meet as she balanced the demands of motherhood and earning a living. Luckily, she was able to enroll both her children in the Newhall, California Head Start program. Those early years instilled in both children, but especially Katrina, a confidence and love of learning that prepared for success, both in school and in life.[11]

Katrina is the founder and president of The Foley Group, A Professional Law Corporation in Newport Beach, California. The Foley Group, PLC provides services in employment litigation, including preparation of personnel policies and handbooks, sexual harassment & discrimination trainings, education advocacy, and non-profit compliance matters. In 2001 and 2004, Katrina was honored by Women in Leadership and the National Association of Women Business Owners’ at the annual Remarkable Women Awards event.[12]

The Foley Group's most notable success came in · Justice served to our clients in a recent jury trial won in Judge Deborah Servino’s courtroom! Finally, 6 years to the day of their wrongful retaliatory termination and breach of an LLC Operating Agreement where The Foley Group's clients were both terminated as employees and ousted from their own business. The jury awarded $1.6 million on October 31, 2017. Associate Sachiyo Yamada Miller, in her first trial, sat second chair to Katrina Foley and the team benefited from support from Orange County Trial Lawyers Association Attorney Jim Pantone who joined Foley and Miller to help with the experts in the trial.[13]

A Devoted Servant of the Community

Katrina served as the school board Legislative Representative and liaison to the Newport Mesa Arts Commission[14], Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, and the Costa Mesa Youth Sports Council. As a City Council member, Katrina served as the chair to the Redevelopment Agency and City Council liaison to the following: OC Fair, Newport-Mesa Unified School District, Youth in Government Program, Child Care amp; Youth Services Committee, Cultural Arts Committee, and Santa Ana River Trail Blue Ribbon Committee.

Katrina also served her community as chair of the Orange Coast College President Search Committee, and has previously served as chair of the Coast Community College Citizens Oversight Committee, a trustee for the Vector Control Board, and council representative for the Advisory Counsel to the Orange County Great Park. Prior to her election to city council, she served on the city’s Planning Commission for more than five years, as a member of the Newport-Mesa Unified School District Measure A Oversight Committee, and the Costa Mesa Human Relations Committee.

Katrina also volunteers her time on several non-profit boards. She has served as president of the Costa Mesa High School Foundation[15], and Academics Director for the Costa Mesa Football Boosters. She was a director and secretary for the Costa Mesa Community Athletic Foundation and president of the recently formed National Scholastic Skateboarding League.[16]

She has also served as a Director for four county-wide non-profit boards: the Girl Scouts, the Orange County Women Lawyers Association, the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association, and Orange County Head Start. Katrina is a member of the Hispanic and Celtic Bar Associations, and has volunteered her time for numerous civic organizations including Pediatric Cancer Research, TH Hoops, Costa Mesa Pop Warner, the Costa Mesa High School and Sonora Elementary School PTAs, where she is a past President and Honorary Service Award Recipient.[17]
