OKANENGE VILLAGE

Okanenge is the village inOshikoto region in the northern part of Namibia. It is situated between the triangle ofOkambonde village, Onamulunga village and Onethindi village inOniipa constituency close to the main road toOndangwa.

Leadership

Okanenge village is administered by one headman Mr Leonard Ronny Negonga who is also the the Mayor of Ondangwa. The village headman is under the rule of Queen Hilma Kambuta Shindondola Kauluma

Development and infrastructure

There are approximately 45 homestead with the average of 7 people per homestead. Habitats in Okanenge village are different some are traditional houses, some are modern houses but most of them are traditional houses which are made up of poles which are cut from the surrounding forest. Due to the increasing of houses the forest rate is decreasing and now people are using building materials such as bricks, mud, thatch and mesh wires to construct their houses.the railway toOshikango also passed through Okanenge.okanenege village has a large number of cuca shops including a big Punyu supermarket for the late Mr Jurius Punyu Shikale.

Education

Okanenge village featured kindergarten for kids, adult education known as literacy.

Farming and cultivation

Okanenge village has fertile soil so people do support agriculture and base on farming activities likeMahangu cultivation and herding cattle’s, goats , ships and donkeys.

The vilage is still under plans to extend it and aiming for more development especially constracting schools, better shops and a clinic.
