Ongwediva


Ongwediva is a town in the northern part of Namibia in the Oshana Region. It is the district capital of the Ongwediva electoral constituency. Ongwediva have a very fast growing population and its development is upgrading very fast. Ongwediva hosts an Annual trade fair and a shopping mall is under construction. This will really improve the Ongwediva residents since they don't have to travell to Oshakati for shopping.


Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair

Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair is an annual event that is held under the auspices of Ongwediva Town Council. It is organized by a Committee that is appointed by Ongwediva Town Council for a period of three (3) years. The event is held at the Ongwediva Trade Centre, in Ongwediva during the last week of the month of August every year. Various activities are held at the venue during the OATF such as workshops, business seminars, product promotions, entertainment, agricultural shows and auctions etc. The fair draws its participation from entrepreneurs, SME’s to Corporate Entities, Government Ministries and Departments and local, regional and international exhibitor.


Education

There are only two secondary schools in Ongwediva namely; Mweshipandeka high School and Gabriel Taapopi Senior Secondary Schoool which is my secondary school. It is a very productive school since it offers quality education and many extramural activities takes place within the school; soccer, basket ball, netball, Gabriel Taapopi School Quoir and many more. There are dedicatited teachers and students in GT.The newly created Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology of the University of Namibia is based in Ongwediva and it started its first official academic year in 2009. There are also few primary schools in Ongwediva.


Entertaintainment in Ongwediva

Bennies entertainment park is a well known place in Ongwediva. Its a very cool place in Ongwediva where friends can socialise there is no restriction to who may enter. The enterance fee is affordable to both children and adults.
