The area comprises a cluster of public housing under the Skim Tanah Kurnia Rakyat Jati or Landless Indigenous Citizens' Housing Scheme, a government housing programme. Although it is named after the original settlement area of Katok, Katok 'A' is not contiguous with it; Katok 'A' is considered part of Tungku, hence it is also named 'Tungku Landless Indigenous Citizens' Housing Scheme' (Area 3).
