Thibault Duplessis is a French software developer and chess player who is the founder and chief executive officer of Lichess[1], the second most popular chess site in the world.[2]

Biography

Duplessis born in France in 1984, and started programming Casio calculators in high school. He studied computer science at University, afterwhich he worked for a few years as a software engineer. In 2010, he started Lichess as a hobby.[3] He has described himself as an average player.

As a non-profit organization, Duplessis relies on volunteers to help him grow Lichess.[4]
