I fixed this template to match its documentation and intent. Someone had added <poem>...</poem> xtags around the content, but this defeated the intent of the previous work to ensure that whitespace was stripped, but forcing extraneous linebreaks before and after, and interpretating any line breaks in the input as if they they were hard-coded <br /> instances.
