Mascot linking

edit

Is there a way to prevent the mascot field from linking? <nowiki> doesn't seem to work. Nick Number (talk) 16:00, 14 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Captains

edit

I suggest removing the Captains and Alternate Captains fields. These often change year-to-year and the players often aren't notable enough to have articles. Powers T 13:43, 25 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

I'm adding a link in the banner for each school's respective main athletic page. PensRule11385 (talk) 18:51, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Why? Primefac (talk) 15:35, 6 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Primefac:, to make it easier to get from the child page back to the parent department. Currently the only links on the pages go directly to the university and not the overall athletic programs. PensRule11385 (talk) 15:53, 6 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
I think that is an unnecessary overlink. Additionally, if as you have done in the past make the links coloured to match the text, they are invisible and therefore almost worthless. Would it not be better to create a parameter that linked to "Athletic body" or similar? Primefac (talk) 17:52, 6 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

team_name, name, and PAGENAME

edit

The |team_name= parameter is needed to colour in the infobox, but if a |name= parameter is not given, it simply reflects the PAGENAME. I believe this should cover all uses and cases, because the page name almost always includes both the team name, the gender of the team, and what sport it is. Thus, we need no weird switches or anything else like that while still giving all useful information. Primefac (talk) 15:33, 6 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Arena attributes

edit

The template currently includes parameters for the name of team’s home arena, which seems appropriate. It also include parameters for the dimensions of the rink and the venue capacity, which I find of questionable relevance to an article about the team rather than the venue. I intend to remove these parameters unless anyone objects.

In case there is some strong argument for their retention that I am not seeing at the moment, I want to note that the formatting of the surface parameter violates two relevant guidelines:

  1. Length-by-width dimensions should use ‘×’ rather than ‘x’.
  2. Feet must be denoted with ‘feet’ or ‘ft’ rather than with a straight quote.
