Attendance? edit

Given that the Indianapolis Motor Speedway does not release official attendance figures, is it appropriate to include attendance figures at all? The estimated attendance seems to vary more by the news agency doing the reporting than by the actual number of people there. Looking at 2005-2009 (no figure is given yet for 2010), the infobox lists the following numbers:

  • 2005: 250,000 (no citation given)
  • 2006: 250,000 (no citation given)
  • 2007: 300,000+ (estimated by motorsport.com)
  • 2008: 400,000+ (estimated by CBSSports.com)
  • 2009: 250,000+ (estimated by The Indianapolis Star)

I don't think attendance dropped by more than a third between 2008 and 2009. Yes, strictly speaking "250,000+" doesn't rule out 400,000, but it does give a misleading impression. Also, even if it is kept, it probably doesn't belong in the "Pre-race ceremonies" section of the infobox. Chuck (talk) 04:46, 1 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
