when I go to the length of using this tempate, I do intend "cold sarcasm", and certainly not "good humour". --dab (⁳) 10:15, 19 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well you aren't the creator of the template, if you want to be rude, I would suggest you make something else, not alter this one. It was originally created with that text line, it was originally meant to be in good humor. You're the only one that doesn't like it, otherwise it would have been changed in the past. I'm reverting.— dαlus Contribs 10:37, 19 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

fine, and I'm adding {{dubious}}. This is a content dispute. I subscribe to WP:CIVIL, but I see no reason to be friendly to people who refuse to be civil. --dab (⁳) 10:44, 19 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

And when have I been uncivil? You're the one editing against consensus to remove a comment intended to make the template cold sarcasm. The creator of this template intended it to be used in good humor. Just because you want to use it to be uncivil to people isn't groudns for that kind of change.— dαlus Contribs 10:49, 19 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

please. You haven't been incivil. Am I in some parallel universe where the laws of logics are out of order this morning? This template is used against users who have the incivility to drop you template messages. I have removed the "friendly" postscript that essentially says "haha, it's all in good fun". I have argued that, since this template is used against incivil people, there is no need for such a friendly postscript. I do not want the template to be "incivil", what is wrong with you? Did you even read my comment? This is a template in WP Template: namespace. I have made an edit to it. You have reverted me. I have taken the issue to talk. What is the big deal? The only application of this template I can see is against incivil jerks who drop "welcome to Wikipedia" templates on the talkpages of bona fide users. This isn't "in good fun", it's insulting, and I take this template to be intended as a dignified response to such an insult, and not an attempt at "good humour". --dab (⁳) 10:53, 19 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Apparently you are in some alternate universe, as it is not incivil to template regulars. In fact it is commonly a mistake by new users, hence this template is meant as a friendly notification. This template is mainly used against new editors that use template notices on users who have broken policy. Even established editors still make mistakes, still edit war. Don't tell me otherwise, because I've seen admins blocked for edit warring, not to mention sock-puppeting.
Sure, a vandal would probably drop a template on an established user's page, but that is no reason to take it as an intended insult. As far as I can tell, you're shattering WP:AGF.— dαlus Contribs 11:00, 19 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't care if it's OR, every time I have seen this template used, it has been used as a friendly reminder. You seem to be the only one using it assuming bad faith.— dαlus Contribs 11:03, 19 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposal

edit

Since so far, you are the only person to want to use this template as some kind of comeback to what you percieve as an insult, why don't we leave the comment there, and I add in a parser function to remove it. Say, {{Don't template the regulars|sarcastic=yes}}— dαlus Contribs 11:06, 19 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

But then again, there is nothing in WP:CIVIL about templating regulars. Try to assume good faith, instead of bad faith. Not all people who template regulars are doing it as an insult, most are new, as said.— dαlus Contribs 11:13, 19 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I am so going to whip out this template. I'm not sure if I'm a regular or not. I think I know just enough to be dangerous :) Mathiastck (talk) 03:02, 3 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Somebody used this template on me and I loved it. I didn't even realize it was a template until I started reading WP:DTTR. I'm glad we have this template, and I will remember it for future use. —    Bill W.    (Talk)  (Contrib)  — 17:14, 12 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
