National Guard/State Guard confusion

edit

Hello. As per the rationale on the talk page of the article in question, the "did you know" snippet provided actually describes the New Jersey National Guard, not the New Jersey State Guard. While the research seems to show that both military units were desegregated by the same governor, the distinction of being the first component of the United States Armed Forces to be desegregated goes to the National Guard. The State Guard answered only to the Governor of New Jersey and was not a component of the Armed Forces of the United States. I would love to still see the article be a part of the "did you know" section because I think state defense forces are such an interesting part of American military history yet are so unknown to the majority of the public. However, the specific quote mentioned unfortunately belongs to a completely different article and as such, a quote such as "Did you know that the New Jersey State Guard was created to replace the New Jersey National Guard as a component of the United States' homeland defense efforts while the National Guard was deployed to Europe during World War II?" or something similar may be more suitable.
