Comments/discussion: The hook makes absolutely no sense. Are there Romans in modern-day Slovakia, or indeed any modern-day Romans? Is Marcus Aurelius a modern-day character? I would correct the hook myself, but I don't know exactly what it means to emphasize chronologically. The article itself needs serious copyediting in this respect: for one, it uses, in the very first line, the false friend "actual" for what I presume should say "present-day" or similar. Dahn, you are absolutely right. Further, I would say the current name of the article is problematic for a DYK nomination in general as it is self-contradictory and difficult to contextualize. I have not alternative suggestions and suggest we drop it from DYK nomination. Bavic1 (talk) 20:07, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

I disagree. The title is confusing and the article could use some copy editing, but the topic is valid: the occupation by Romans of the area that is now Slovakia. I have renamed the article to Marcomannia, which fits the content better, and suggest ALT1 below. Not sure how to clean up the nomination when the article name has changed... I generally like to leave one or two flaws in any article to avoid tempting the evil eye, which tends to be jealous of perfection. This is a fairly easy rule to follow. But I have replaced the citation needed tags by citations or removed the content that was not cited in this case. I don't think there is anything controversial about the topic. It all happened a long time ago and there were no obvious heroes or villains as far as I can see, apart from Attila maybe. Aymatth2 (talk) 00:56, 14 August 2011 (UTC)
