Template talk:Country data Wales

New Flag edit

Could the flag used be changed from File:Flag of Wales (1959–present).svg   to File:Flag of Wales.svg   - I feel the image is more appropriate. The Quill (talk) 15:18, 28 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Why? File:Flag of Wales.svg looks far too cartoony and not at all like the proper flag. – PeeJay 21:45, 25 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Historical flags edit

I request that the template be enabled to yield the variants File:Flag of Wales (1953-1959).svg and File:Wales1807-1953.gif, for their potential use in historical contexts. It is currently being discussed when and whether those variants should be used, but I think that in any case the template will benefit from being upgraded with that functionality. --Theurgist (talk) 22:14, 28 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

  Not done: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit template-protected}} template. — {{U|Technical 13}} (etc) 00:15, 1 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
Many of the country data templates are set to be capable of yielding various historical and alternative flag variants (sometimes only differing in the shade of a certain colour or in the length-width ratio), as well as state and civil flags, naval ensigns, presidential standards, sports flags and so on (I'm not sure if some of them are ever used on Wikipedia). Making the edit does no harm, while not making it rules out the option of using those flag variants. We're discussing the Wales issue at WT:FOOTY#Flag of Wales, and the usage of the 1953 variant, at least, looks like a plausible option. --Theurgist (talk) 14:22, 3 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Template-protected edit request on 7 December 2017 edit

The 1807 Wales flag is available in svg format (File:Flag_of_Wales,_1807-1953.svg), while the gif enlisted is too small. Flix11 (talk) 15:49, 7 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
