Error messages from Template:Cite encyclopedia

edit

There are quite a few pages in Category:Wikipedia articles incorporating a citation from the 1728 Cyclopaedia without an article title parameter, and in all of them there is an angry red "{{cite encyclopedia}}: Missing or empty |title= (help) error". I suppose the basic thing to do is to go through and add the article titles to the uses of {{Cite Cyclopaedia 1728}}, which for most should be fairly obvious. I imagine that the title parameter was for some time considered optional, but the current version of {{Cite encyclopedia}} does not tolerate such use. – Anon423 (talk) 05:23, 15 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

{{Cite Cyclopaedia 1728}} has had some form of angry red title-missing error message since this May 2012 version (the template's second edit) so it is not true that the title parameter was for some time considered optional.
