Special case edit

For now, there's a template just for History of merit badges (Boy Scouts of America) that is called "BSAseriesMBHistory". It looks just like this one, only it as another image below the box and above the portal tag. This is due to the unique layout of that article and all the white space.Rlevse 17:10, 31 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

This has been resolved. The BSAseres template is used there instead. --NThurston 19:25, 3 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Portal box edit

Try centering the portal box.Rlevse 19:11, 3 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I disagree with the box. Why making the template encumbering by adding a box inside a box? CG 10:52, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
We like it.Rlevse 11:23, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
1. The portal box is a standard way of identifying portals (see Template:portal) so I think it is good to retain that structure. 2. Any page that has the series template should also have the portal box, so putting it all in one stroke makes it easier (and more consistent). 3. I really do like the current structure as it includes the box in a streamlined way, which looks better than having an extra box floating somewhere out there. --NThurston 13:10, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
If you chek up the history you'll find that I replaced the floating box by a small text in the infobox (see also the Scouting portal) to make the template a little smaller, but you have reincluded the box. CG 15:22, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
We know. We like the portal box.Rlevse 15:26, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
I agree. All the portal links share the same "box" format, which makes it consistent around the entire Wikiproject. --NThurston 19:44, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • Rather than having the See Also (in the bootom of the box), and then the portal box, why not integrate it into the bottom of the box. Look at bottom ofTemplate:Infobox Saint for an example. --evrik 15:35, 25 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
    • If an article has the box, the portal link is already there and doesn't need to be in see also. If the article doesn't have the box, then it should be in see also. It only needs to be in one spot, not both. Rlevse 15:38, 25 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
      • Well of course, what you're saying is true, but that doesn't address what I was saying which is the format of the bottom of the box. --evrik 16:42, 25 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
        • Ah, I get it now. Either way is okay with me. I defer to Nthurston on this as he created this particular template. Rlevse 18:04, 25 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Retire... edit

I think it is time to retire this template. I created it well before {{Infobox WorldScouting}} and {{Scouting}} were developed— those templates are more universal. We should use {{Infobox WorldScouting}} for organizations and events and {{Infobox Person}} for biographies; {{Scouting}} can be used with all of these. --— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 15:33, 5 January 2008 (UTC)   Done --—— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 18:54, 17 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
