New colouring system RE: December 26th. edit

The newest edit from Arbero states there is a new league table through WP:Footy and has subsequently changed the colouring for the A-League article. I believe this to be jumping the gun, unless this change is deemed compulsory, I strongly believe that this edit has been a knee-jerk reaction to something (I can't actually find whereabouts this consensus has been reached, however this affects the continuity of all the previous A-League pages, State League Seasons and the NSL articles (which I have slowly been retrospectively updating over time). For these reasons, I'm gonna change this back to the original colouring that it was prior to December 25th. — Preceding unsigned comment added by J man708 (talkcontribs)

There is new table format to make tables in new developed module, for many reasons and one of them being that we should reduce use of fb team template (I saw you created a few as well as season articles as redirect 2015-16 Premier League -> Premier League why?). Read on WT:FOOTY it has been discussed about 20 times in last six months and is now put to use everywhere. See Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/League season/Table conversion QED237 (talk) 20:35, 25 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
Relax dude, not everyone lives on the WT:FOOTY page and keeps track of it 24/7. Remember to Assume Good Faith, QED237.
So, are these changes going to be made upon previous season's pages, otherwise they'll look shithouse and have issues with continuity. As for the 2015-16 Premier League redirect, why not bring it up on either that talk page or my user talk page, rather than this one? J man708 (talk) 20:53, 25 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
I am relaxed and assume good faith, but you calling it "knee-jerk reaction" and that you did not find consensus made me respond. I can agree I should not have brought up Premier League here. The colors and evry little bit has been decided step by step under consensus and we will follow that consensus regarding colors and rest of table (I do not know why this league has had yellow, because green followed by blue has always been standard). We can not go around and change all tables on entire wikipedia but we change the tables around all football leagues for this season and make sure it is used also the upcoming seasons. If you want to change tables from previous seasons to this module, that is up to you. Sorry if my edits have come up as aggressive. QED237 (talk) 21:25, 25 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
It's how it initially appeared. I guess I overlooked the fact that the whole table template data was replaced and stuff. Lack of sleep will do that to people during this season of Festivus, I'm sure I overreacted to it anyway. Sorry about that one. Hahaha. Bygones? On with the serious stuff, do you reckon that the blue/purple colour is right for the finals series though? I mean, the AFC itself has a secondary club cup competition (after the AFC Champions League, it's the AFC Cup). There are countries (not Australia, but Iraq, Kuwait, Jordan, Indonesia, Hong Kong etc) who have teams qualify for both. I've always assumed that these sorts of UEFA Cup-style secondary continental club comps should be shown in a blue/purple colour. I personally feel like the A-League finals series (which is just an end of season play-off series for a Champions League spot) should probably be shown in a yellow colour, with reds being for relegation and black for exclusions... Cutting a long story short, I'll retrospectively edit previous seasons to conform with this one if need be, but I do think that the colours for this one are kinda out of whack. Okay, I am not very familiar with the AFC leagues (I am from Europe). From what we have decided the colors are not depending on competition but on the table. If there is qualification for AFC Champions League, AFC Cup and A-league finals all in this table then I agree the finals should be yellow. Do the top two teams also qualify for finals? And now I ust read you cant go to League Cup from Australia, than I believe in australia finals should be blue. QED237 (talk) 21:55, 25 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
Okay, it's a little confusing, bare with me... There are spots for the AFC Champions League (1st on the ladder makes the Group Stage and 2nd gets the Qualifying Playoff spot), nothing for the AFC Cup (this may change however in the future) and then the top 6 overall make the finals series, which does indeed include the top 2 teams.
From there, the top 2 get seeded into the Semis and 3rd-6th play off in the Quarter Finals. The winner of the playoff series wins a ACL Group Stage entry, unless it was the team that came 1st, wherein 2nd on the ladder gets the second Group Stage spot and 3rd gets the ACL Qualifying spot. If 2nd wins it, it's the same deal wherein 3rd gets given the ACL Qualifying spot. It's possible that 6th could enter straight into the Group Stage while 2nd would have to play in the ACL Qualifying Playoff. (However the playoff series has never been won by a team who didn't finish the season either first or second) This could all change again soon, as the Football Federation Australia have announced that they have the intention of allowing the winners of the FFA Cup one of the three ACL spots.
Also, to make it more confusing, Australia would be alloted 4 spots in the ACL, if it had 12 or more teams that are based in Australia, however as we have 9, we're only allowed 3. Again, something that will change in the future as the league is set to expand in a few years... It's a really unique spot to be put into, which is why I think these pages have a few issues like that... J man708 (talk) 22:09, 25 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
I see, the reason I asked is that currently we dont display in the table that top two teams have quaified for final series also, and with this new module it is easier to do that. I will take a closer look at it when I have a pair of more fresh eyes (a bit tired) and I may take it to the talkpage of the development if anyone else will have a say about the colors and appearance of the table. Merry Christmas! QED237 (talk) 22:20, 25 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
The only thing I can think of that is kinda like that where the team listed has two notable things happen was when Wigan won the FA Cup and was relegated in the same season, leaving this eyesore on the page. All good, I think we should get more input onto this one. The A-League page generally has a core group of 10 or so contributors who do a lot of the updates. They'd probably be best to ask for opinions on this one. Calling it a day here probably isn't a bad idea. Merry Christmas to you too, dude! J man708 (talk) 22:27, 25 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
