Usage edit

The template needs at least one of two elements from the URL: the code, and the plant classification if it is not flower.

For flowers (which have flower_details in the URL):

  • {{Kansas Wildflowers|numeric_code|title}}

For other types of plants, grab the word before _details in the URL and put it in the third parameter, or the second parameter if in link mode (|link=1):

  • {{Kansas Wildflowers|numeric_code|title|type_of_plant}}
  • {{Kansas Wildflowers|numeric_code|type_of_plant|link=1}}

In this URL, flower is the plant classification and 545 is the numeric code. In this case, only the numeric code needs to be added to the template.

  • http://www.kswildflower.org/flower_details.php?flowerID=545
  • {{Kansas Wildflowers|545|Bluebells}}

But in this URL, 34 is the numeric code, and grass is the plant classification:

  • http://www.kswildflower.org/grass_details.php?grassID=34
  • {{Kansas Wildflowers|34|Little bluestem|grass}}

Other parameters from {{cite web}} are available, such as |access-date= and |mode=.
