This template is used to invite Wikipedia users to in-person Wikipedia events in their geographical area. It takes the following parameters in this order: page for more info, date of event, and location. The template gives a default output if no parameters are used.

Usage edit

Before using this template to invite Wikipedia users to events, first create a Wikipedia page describing the event. Include the date, time, and location of your event on a page that you create at WP:MEETUP. The page name of your event must be in the format 'Wikipedia:Meetup/eventname'.

Parameters:

  • First parameter = page within WP:MEETUP which describes your event. For example, if your event is described at Wikipedia:Meetup/seattlewp, then only give the parameter 'seattlewp' for this field: {{subst:Invite|seattlewp}}
  • Second parameter = date or date and time of the event
  • Third parameter = place of the event, such as a city name

Be sure to remember to add your signature ( ~~~~ ) after the template, as the text refers to a personal invitation from the poster.

Example edit

A standard use case
  • {{subst:invite|seattlewp|22 May 2024|Seattle}} produces:
