Purpose edit

This template provides a quick and easy method of directly linking to images of New South Wales towns, suburbs and localities and of providing a standardised format for the reference. The images are provided by New South Wales Land and Property Information, (formerly the Land and Property Management Authority and before that, the Department of Lands) and show the officially designated borders of the chosen locality.

In early 2008 the then Department of Lands changed urls for the imagery and broke links in several articles where the images were referenced. In the event that happens again, this template will require only the updating of the url here, without requiring changes to multiple articles.

Usage edit

{{DoL suburb image |name = |codename = |accessdate = }}

Required parameters edit

  • name = This is required to form the citation title and should be the name of the locality chosen with appropriate capitalisation. The name may include spaces. eg Raymond Terrace
  • accessdate = Date accessed in the same format as used throughout the article, for example "accessdate = 27 April 2024". Must not be wikilinked.

Optional parameters edit

  • codename = This is required to form the url if the locality name includes spaces. Spaces cannot be used and must be replaced by "%20". eg Raymond%20Terrace. This field is not case-sensitive; i.e. Raymond%20Terrace and raymond%20terrace will produce the same result.

Examples edit

Single word name edit

{{DoL suburb image |name = Toronto |accessdate = 22 January 2010}} produces:

"Toronto". Land and Property Management Authority - Spatial Information eXchange. New South Wales Land and Property Management Authority. Retrieved 22 January 2010.

Multiple word name edit

{{DoL suburb image |name = Raymond Terrace |codename = Raymond%20Terrace |accessdate = 22 January 2010}} will produce:

"Raymond Terrace". Land and Property Management Authority - Spatial Information eXchange. New South Wales Land and Property Management Authority. Retrieved 22 January 2010.

Spaces edit

Spaces in the citation may be eliminated where not required. For example, the above examples may be written as:

{{DoL suburb image|name=Toronto|accessdate=22 January 2010}}
{{DoL suburb image|name=Toronto|accessdate=22 January 2010}}
{{DoL suburb image|name=Raymond Terrace|codename=Raymond%20Terrace|accessdate=22 January 2010}}
