Thyca crystallina edit

  • ... that the gastropod mollusc Thyca crystallina is in the early evolutionary stages of becoming parasitic on a starfish?
    • ALT1:... that the gastropod mollusc Thyca crystallina has few adaptations for its parasitic way of life?

  • Comment: I will be continuing this QPQ I hope.

  • Expanded newly enough, long enough, and in general well-referenced, neutral, and free of suspected copyvio. QPQ is in order. Hook 0 is more clear and interesting, but if I read the source correctly, it is talking about Thyca in general, and not necessarily the Thyca crystallina species? What do you think? HaEr48 (talk) 05:30, 12 January 2018 (UTC)
@HaEr48: Good point. What the source actually says is "Species of Thyca, parasites of starfish, are not yet very modified." Thyca here is the genus and I take it to include all the species in the genus of which T. crystallina is one. Later the author mentions that some species develop a proboscis, and another source (Elder) states that T. crystallina is among this group. I think the sourcing is adequate to back up the hook fact, but if you want I can propose a different hook. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:15, 12 January 2018 (UTC)
@Cwmhiraeth: Can you cite Elder then (preferably with page number, using {{rp}} or the like) to corroborate that statement? HaEr48 (talk) 06:34, 12 January 2018 (UTC)
@HaEr48: I have adjusted the referencing. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:42, 12 January 2018 (UTC)
@Cwmhiraeth: Good to go. Please consider: adding page numbers to the Elder ref, and is it possible to add short explanations (in parentheses?) for non-obvious terms such as ectoparasite and proboscis? But they're up to you. HaEr48 (talk) 18:18, 12 January 2018 (UTC)
Both those words are wikilinked and neither is easy to explain briefly. As for Elder, the paper is cited in the normal way giving the page range. The fact is mentioned in the abstract, and no doubt it is dealt with in greater detail later in the paper, but I can't access that part. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:37, 12 January 2018 (UTC)
