The Global Dilemma: Guns or Butter edit

Created by Maury Markowitz (talk). Self-nominated at 16:00, 8 November 2016 (UTC).

  • New article, nominated on the day of creation, long enough, source, p. 270 has Crawford describing the game as "one of my poorest games, no question" which matches the hook and the in-line citation supported description in the body of the article. However, the lede says "Crawford ... considered it the worst game he released," and is unsupported. No citations are required in the lede, but it should still be adjust to say "considered it one of the worst games" or "one of the poorest games," to match the source.
  • References in the article are limited in variety. Reference 9 is a bare url even if it is in a "cite web" template, and further details should be added. There are no citations at all in the Gameplay section of five paragraphs, and that is not allowed under DYK rules which specify a minimum of one citation per paragraph.
  • An Earwig check picks up only direct quotations, so no copyvio issues. No close paraphrasing problems noted. Content is neutral and policy compliant.
  • Hook is short enough, is not unduly negative in my view, being the designer's own opinion of his work, and sufficiently interesting.
  • Maury Markowitz has many more than five DYK credits, so a QPQ review is required and none is provided.
  • Overall review conclusion: QPQ needed, referencing in The Global Dilemma: Guns or Butter#Gameplay needed, bare url, and tweak to lede required. EdChem (talk) 05:45, 1 December 2016 (UTC)
Fixed lede, cites are not needed in gameplay sections (rules of VG articles), and is a bare URL an issue? That seems outside the task of DYK, but these days of rule creep nothing surprises me any more. Maury Markowitz (talk) 13:52, 1 December 2016 (UTC)
QPQ is Second Thoughts are Best. Maury Markowitz (talk) 15:13, 2 December 2016 (UTC)
Is there any decision on the cite issue? Maury Markowitz (talk) 18:28, 2 December 2016 (UTC)
@Maury Markowitz: Thanks for fixing the lede. The bare url issue is covered by rule D3, but I'll fix it now if you haven't, it's really not a big issue. Re the QPQ review, are you referring to Template:Did you know nominations/Second Thoughts are Best? If so, I note that that review is open to criticism for not mentioning issues like copyvio, but as it has none (I checked) and is already been on the main page, I was going to accept it. However, it has already been claimed for QPQ credit at Template:Did you know nominations/Shamus: Case II, so did you mean another review? On the citation issue, I'm inclined towards the view that the position is unclear. EdChem (talk) 23:19, 2 December 2016 (UTC)

Well here are some to chose from:

  • Ku Klux Klan in Canada
  • Born Hater
  • Bay State Raceway
  • Frederick Henry Rich
