Social connection edit

  • Reviewed: I still have to review another nomination and will post this here once it's done.

5x expanded by Laurisela (talk). Self-nominated at 18:16, 10 December 2018 (UTC).

  • This interesting and well-written article is a five-fold expansion and is long enough and new enough. The hook facts are stated in the article and are cited to a paper where the abstract reads "Existing evidence supports the hypothesis that the need to belong is a powerful, fundamental, and extremely pervasive motivation" and I am assuming good faith that the hook is further supported by the part of the paper I cannot see. The article is neutral and Earwig's tool did not bring up any policy issues. No QPQ is required for this first time nominator. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 07:30, 30 December 2018 (UTC)
  • @Cwmhiraeth: did you look at the 5x expansion? It seems to have started on November 13, nearly a month before this was nominated. Yoninah (talk) 19:41, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
@Yoninah: Indeed I did look. I took the size at 1677 bytes on 23 November and decided it was a five-times expansion, and was nominated at 17 rather than 7 days. I made allowance in the newness criterion for this being a first-time DYK nominator who might not know the requisite time scale. I saw the creator was a student editor and did not like the idea of discouraging them by sticking to relatively unimportant criteria. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 20:10, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
@Cwmhiraeth: OK. But I would change "is" to "may be" in the hook. That's how the article phrases it. Yoninah (talk) 20:47, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
OK. I have substituted ALT1 and approved it! Cwmhiraeth (talk) 20:58, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
