Siege of Katsurayama edit
- ... that during the Siege of Katsurayama the castle garrison poured rice from their walls to fool the besiegers into thinking they had ample water supplies? Source: "There was no spring on top of the mountain, so all drinking water had to be carried up from a source near the Joshoji temple on the mountain's lower slopes. This fact was initially unknown to the Takeda troops, and as water was always a crucial factor in a siege the garrison decided to fool the besiegers into thinking they had ample supplies. As they had plenty of rice the Ochiai soldiers chose a place that was easily visible from the Takeda lines and poured out the white rice in a torrent that looked like a waterfall. (previously a DYK?) This is my first review. It reads well and seems thorough, if a bit heavy on one source. There are a few copy-edits that I'd like to see made (and will thus make). - @Maltrópa: Thanks for the copy-edits. Unfortunately, there exist no English works other than Turnbull's book that detail the siege, and I cannot speak Japanese, so that I had to use a translator to at least find two other online sources for the article. - Sorry, like I said, first time! The article was only one-day old when nominated, and so is new enough and is visibly several times the minimum required length (c. 6800 characters, counting citation tags, according to wordcounter.net) and so is long enough; and the hook is 153 characters and so is short enough as well as being interesting (it's what made me review it in the first place). It might be worth sticking a citation closer to the line the hook references (I would if I were writing an essay) but I imagine the next citation along covers it anyway. I can only assume the article is true to the cited sources, but I'd believe that the stuff cited as Turnbull is indeed from an Osprey book. As such, I'd say it's within policy, but I can't access the sources to check. I stand over my initial tick. ~ Maltrópa loquace 00:01, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
